Moving day easier with Alpacas

Sometimes you have to move because your parents tell you and sometimes relocation can be a decision on your own. This young teen was not thrilled about it but the llama photos on a t-shirt that she could wear after school helped soothes her. During the school day she was able to connect with the place that she left and the wonderful memories of her beloved Llamas and Alpacas through a spiral notebook. She found out one of the other students in her new school had Alpacas too when she pulled out her carry all pouch with her pencils in it. It bridged the gap and a friendship started. Moving wasn’t great but it felt a bit better as they laughed over the funny photo on the notebook and the pouches. They had a first class of the day together and they ate lunch together every day, too. She was able to go and visit her new friends Alpacas on the weekends. Her mom closed her e-mail to me with - It works for me! Glad to hear it.
The I heard from another dad who had to move with his son. He shared with me that his son was a lot like him, a creative introvert with a mop of hair that was a bit unruly. He wanted to bridge his son’s introverted creative self with the time that he interacted with the rest of the family. He loved the tote bags and purchased one for each of his kids so that when they went and did some errands in town they each had their bags to help out. In each bag was the list of how they would contribute as they ran their errands, it cut down on the asking and helped each one realize they were a part of making things happen in their lives together. He commented that the chores were less stressful and his children learned how to contribute to the family regularly by purchasing on purpose.
It's fun to think that Alpaca's and Llamas have helped kids make transitions and moves a bit easier.
